China Watch Blog reports that the Hong Kong government has put out alerts that there are several fraudulent websites which look similar to government websites.
The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer issued warnings on these sites, which look similar to the Inland Revenue Department website:
* www.company-registry.com/hkird/index.html
* www.unthk.com/hktax.html
* www.51zc.hk/hktax.html
These sites look similar to the Companies Registry Cyber Search Centre webpage:
* www.company-registry.com/hkcr/index.html
* www.company-registry.com/HKGSCX/index.html
These sites resemble the Intellectual Property Department’s Trade Mark Search System webpage:
* www.company-registry.com/hktm/index.html
* www.company-registry.com/hkpatent/index.html
Meanwhile, the Monetary Authority issued an alert on fraudulent website www.company-registry.com/hkma, which looks similar to the authority’s official site.
The public are reminded to exercise extra caution in releasing their personal information online.
Anyone who has provided personal information to the websites or conducted financial transactions through them should contact Police on 2860 5012.
