Rotterdam port to get 2nd train shuttle to Austria
2006-01-05 02:25:39

ROTTERDAM, Jan 5 (GCTL) - Rotterdam port will get its second container train shuttle connection with Austria within a couple of months. Initiated and operated by Intercontainer Austria and its partner Kombiverkehr, the shuttle named Flying Dutchman runs three times a week.

In Rotterdam the Eemhaven area (especially for intra-European containers) and the Maasvlakte are served. In Austria, Wels (near Linz) is the hub for all national destinations.

Rotterdam is the most important port for Austria for a large number of years already. It owes this position to the connections to the Rhine-Danube Canal, enabling direct inland shipping connections.
