AAT records 10pc dip in Nov cargo traffic

HONG KONG, Dec 8 (GCTL) - Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) announced that it handled 61,982 tonnes of air cargo in November, down 10 percent compared with the same period last year.

It said in a statement that export cargo in November registered 44,236 tonnes, a decline of 15 percent versus the same month last year, while import cargo volume was 17,340 tonnes, up 6 percent year on year. Transshipment cargo volume was 442 tonnes, a drop of 20 percent against the same month in 2010.

Cumulative export tonnage from January to November 2011 was 439,427 tonnes, a reduction of 5 percent against the same period last year. Total import tonnage for the first 11months was 189,566 tonnes, representing a 5 percent year on year growth. Transshipment cargo volume since the beginning of the year was 9,865 tonnes, up 107 percent against same period last year.
