AAT reports 4% rise in March air cargo volume

HONG KONG, Apr 12 (GCTL) - Asia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) said it handled 65,929 tonnes in March, recording a growth of 4% compared with the same period last year.

Export cargo registered 47,270 tonnes, a growth of 5% when compared with the same month last year. Import cargo volume for March was 18,114 tonnes, up 4% year on year. Trans-shipment cargo volume was 545 tonnes, a drop of 21% when compared against corresponding period in 2011.

Cumulative export tonnage from January to March 2012 was 113,665 tonnes, a slight growth of 0.1% against same period last year. Total import tonnage for first quarter was 53,181 tones, representing a 5% year on year growth. Transshipment cargo volume since the beginning of the year was 1,553 tones, a reduction of 19% against same period last year.
